My first completed series of works. It was a process of asking myself what kind of paintings describe a part of who I am. Something form my heart. The Sails series was the natural choice. Sailing has been a part of my life for many years. It was introduced to me through my wife and her family and the love of being on the water with friends and family have given me many great memory’s that I love.
When I have sailed, there is a sense of that I have some control and responsibility of where I am. I can steer the rudder and trim the sails to go where I want to go. But I don’t have control of the wind or sea that I am on. It is a lot like how I see life in and how circumstances can intervene. Winds will change and the sea may rise, but I must still sail. It is a beautiful thing for me to see life in sailing and sailing in life. I hope you are moved in the same way when seeing my SAIL series.

The second of two paintings I created from a day I took my two girls on an art outing to the Chesapeake Bay. We saw many sailboats on the water in an area called Hawks Cove. We did some sketching and photography and from those photos I did two paintings of that time. It was a warm breezy day which gave the sailors plenty to fill their sails. The scene from the coast was broad and expansive making the sailboats seem minute as they were pushed across the bay.
All canvas prints come gallery wrapped and are ready to hang.
The frame is a black country floating frame that adds an inch to the overall dimensional size of the canvas.
